News / Spying chips from Chinese government found in American Servers
A report published by Bloomberg on 04 October revealed that spying chips have been found in server motherboards of at least 30 American companies including giants like Apple and Amazon.
According to The Hacker News, the malicious chips that were implemented in the servers manufactured by U.S.-based company Super Micro are believed to have been inserted during the manufacturing process in China. Furthermore, the groups responsible for smuggling the chips into the servers are believed to be part of the Chinese government.
The report also claims that Apple and Amazon were already aware of the compromised motherboards in 2015 and reported it to US authorities. Both companies however deny this.
